David stepped down from the altar platform, his calm demeanor completely shattering. He looked between Jessica and the senior attorney, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. The prenuptial agreement he had insisted on signing was built entirely around the assumption that Jessica owned fifty percent of her family's real estate firm and the multimillion-dollar estate where they currently stood. If those assets belonged to Sarah, his entire financial position was completely ruined.
Sarah took a slow step forward into the middle of the room. The guests watched in absolute silence as she pulled a small silver flash drive out of her handbag. It contained the complete digital ledger she had discovered two days ago while clearing out her father's old desk at the corporate headquarters. It showed systematic withdrawals totaling over two million dollars, routed directly from her father's life insurance and trust funds into a private bank account under David's name.
Sarah: You didn't just kick me out today, Jessica. You helped him steal our family business.
David: Sarah, keep your mouth shut! You don't know what you are talking about!
Jessica: David... what is she talking about?
Sarah: Ask him where the overseas accounts are located, Jessica.
Jessica turned to look at her groom, her sharp posture suddenly breaking as real confusion filled her face. David refused to look her in the eye, instead turning his head toward the side exits of the mansion. The two sheriff deputies immediately closed off the side doors, their arms resting calmly on their utility belts as they monitored his movements. The entire room could see the guilt written clearly across David's pale face.
The guests began whispering loudly, several of them pulling out their phones to record the unfolding exposure. The prestige and status Jessica had spent her whole life building was falling apart right in front of the community leaders, business partners, and long-time family friends she had wanted to impress.
Jessica: Tell me she is lying, David! Tell me right now!
David: We needed the capital to secure the development merger, Jessica!
Robert: You committed grand larceny, Mr. Vance, and identity fraud against a vulnerable senior citizen.
David: I did what was necessary for the estate!
