The heavy dark wood double doors of the main entryway burst open with loud force, slamming hard against the interior plaster walls of the foyer. David Williamson stepped into the grand house, his suit jacket slightly wrinkled, his face carrying a look of intense concern. Flanking him on both sides were two uniform Dallas police officers, their leather duty belts creaking as they entered the grand hallway behind the house owner.
David had received an emergency call on his cell phone just ten minutes earlier while sitting in his lawyer's office downtown. The anonymous security alert sent to his phone had indicated unusual disturbance activity inside the main house entrance, prompting him to rush home immediately with the local patrol officers who had been nearby on routine duty.
David: What is going on here?
The scene in the foyer took David's breath away. Maria was sitting on the cold marble floor holding Leo, who was sobbing uncontrollably into her uniform shoulder. Victoria stood just a few feet away, her white dress immaculate, looking perfectly composed despite the clear chaos unfolding at her feet.
Victoria: Oh, thank goodness you are home, David! It was absolute chaos! The boy lost his balance while running on the stairs. I tried to reach out and catch him, but Maria ran over and tripped him up!
Leo lifted his small tear-stained face from Maria's neck, his small finger pointing directly toward the woman in the white dress with unshakable certainty.
Leo: Daddy, she pushed me down the stairs!
David's breath caught in his chest as his eyes locked onto his son's bruised knees and terrified face. He took a heavy step forward, his heart breaking into a thousand pieces at the sound of his boy's trembling voice. Victoria quickly stepped between David and the child, putting her hands on her husband's chest in a fake show of comfort.
Victoria: David, darling, the child is clearly confused from the fall! He bumped his head on the steps. You know how imaginative he gets when he is scared!
Maria: Check the staircase security cameras, Mr. Williamson!
Victoria turned around fast, her eyes widening in sudden panic as she stared down at Maria on the floor. Up until this very moment, Victoria believed that the decorative security camera mounted near the top chandelier was merely a fake shell placed there by the previous home owners for visual deterrence.
Maria: I had the security technician reactivate the entire interior camera system last Monday, Mr. Williamson. The cloud storage records every single angle directly to your main tablet terminal on your office desk.
David pulled out his heavy leather-bound business tablet from his briefcase with shaking hands, his fingers flying across the screen as he accessed the live stream memory storage. Victoria reached out to grab his wrist, her voice suddenly high and desperate as the color drained completely from her pale face.
Victoria: David, wait! We don't need to look at silly security footage! We can discuss this like civilized adults in our private bedroom!
David: Get your hands off me, Victoria.
David swiped his finger across the high-definition video terminal. The crisp 4K footage played back immediately, showing the exact angle from the high ceiling. The video clearly captured Victoria walking down the stairs, pausing behind the young boy, and intentionally shoving him forward down the steep marble drop with full force, followed by Maria diving across the floor to catch him.
